The West Indies cricket team arrived in Dhaka on Sunday ahead of their two-Test series against Bangladesh, with Shamar Springer replacing Keemo Paul, who withdrew for personal and family reasons.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) announced the change on Sunday, confirming Springer’s inclusion in the 15-member squad for the series later this month.

Ojay Shields and Nial Smith were also considered as potential replacements, but injuries ruled both out. Paul had initially joined the squad as a replacement for fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who was rested to manage his workload.

Neither Joseph nor Paul will be available for the Bangladesh series. White-ball captain Shai Hope has also been rested despite his recent impressive performances.

West Indies will play a two-day warm-up match in Dhaka on October 22 before the first Test begins in Mirpur on October 28. The second Test will start in Sylhet on November 5.

West Indies Test squad:

Roston Chase (captain), Jomel Warrican (vice-captain), Joshua Bishop, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Joshua Da Silva, Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Amir Jangoo, Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Shamar Springer and Kevin Wickham.
