Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain on Thursday has stated that the current government is not yet considering a dengue vaccine. The government will only deliberate on this matter if international organizations—such as the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and Gavi—grant their approval.

He made these remarks on Thursday at a ceremony held at Kurmitola General Hospital in the capital, marking the handover of 500,000 dengue detection kits provided by the US government.

The Health Minister said, "We have made all necessary preparations to tackle dengue this year. Adequate supplies of kits, intravenous (IV) fluids, and all other relevant medicines have been distributed to district headquarters and upazila hospitals. There is currently no shortage of any kind."

Speaking on the occasion, Trishita Maula, Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy in Bangladesh, said, "The US government is committed to providing all possible assistance to help Bangladesh tackle the dengue situation."
