Police arrested four people, including the alleged mastermind, over the attack and vandalism at content creator Salman Muqtadir’s Brownfish Studio near ECB Chattar in the capital on Sunday.
The arrested are Shahriar, whom police identified as the alleged mastermind, Md Mamun of Bhashantek slum, and Aslam and Munna of Majumdar Mor.
Cantonment Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Gias Uddin confirmed the arrests in the afternoon.
He said the incident was linked to a dispute between New Guinea Properties Limited, which owns the land where the studio is located, and other landowners in the area.
Police said Salman had rented a floor from New Guinea Properties and established the studio there.
According to Salman, a group of people arrived in two trucks late Saturday night and vandalised the studio. Around 1:45am, he went live from the Brownfish Studio Facebook page and said the studio had been attacked and completely destroyed.
Salman later alleged that the attackers may have primarily targeted the building owner, who he believed could have been facing extortion demands.
The OC said New Guinea Properties had constructed a gate on the land, restricting access for others in the area.
“People from the opposing side went there after becoming angry over the restrictions on movement,” Gias Uddin said, adding that police had arrested the main planner and were continuing efforts to arrest the others.
