The government has increased the minimum retail price of low-tier cigarettes by Tk 3, raising the cost of 10 sticks from Tk 62 to Tk 65.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) announced the latest adjustment in a notification signed by its acting chairman, Ahsan Habib, on Wednesday. The notification was made public today.

Cigarettes in Bangladesh are divided into four price tiers, with the low tier covering the cheapest products available in the market.

The latest increase applies only to low-tier cigarettes, whose price had already risen from Tk 60 to Tk 62 per 10 sticks in the FY2026-27 national budget.

Prices in the other three categories remain unchanged. Ten sticks of medium-tier cigarettes will cost Tk 92, while high-tier cigarettes will cost Tk 160 and premium-tier cigarettes Tk 210 or more.

In the FY27 budget, prices across all four tiers were increased. Medium-tier cigarettes rose from Tk 80 to Tk 92, high-tier products from Tk 140 to Tk 160, and premium cigarettes from Tk 185 to Tk 210 or more.

The cabinet recently approved a proposal to increase the price of low-tier cigarettes.
