The incident occurred around 2:00 PM local time on Monday (September 7) in the Al-Khurma area of Taif. According to local sources and fellow expatriates, the vehicle carrying the passengers crashed on the Taif-Jeddah highway, killing all four occupants, including the driver, on the spot.
All four victims hailed from Kanaighat Upazila in Sylhet district. They had purchased tickets to return home after a long period of employment abroad, but the journey to the airport ended in tragedy before they could reach Jeddah International Airport.
Two of the deceased have been identified as Karim Uddin and Khalid Miah. Local community leaders and Saudi authorities are currently working to confirm the identities of the remaining two victims.
The sudden news of their deaths has cast a wave of shock and mourning across both the Bangladeshi expatriate community in Saudi Arabia and their hometown in Sylhet. Efforts are underway by local community representatives and officials to complete the necessary legal procedures to repatriate the bodies to Bangladesh.
