The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase has approved the procurement of four LNG cargoes to meet Bangladesh’s energy demand, with prices ranging from $23.98 to $28.03 per MMBtu(million British thermal units).

Three cargoes will be purchased through international quotations, while another will be procured from Aramco Trading Singapore under a government-to-government arrangement.

The three cargoes are scheduled for delivery between September 25 and October 6, while the additional cargo is expected to arrive on September 10.

The purchases come as Bangladesh continues to depend heavily on imported LNG to offset shortages in domestic gas production and maintain supplies to power plants, industries and other consumers.
