The government honoured 102 distinguished teachers from different levels of education on Monday for their contributions to education and nation-building.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presented the awards at a World Teachers’ Day 2026 programme organised by the Ministry of Education at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.

Each recipient received Tk 200,000, a crest and a certificate. The awardees include 10 primary teachers, 20 secondary teachers, 25 college teachers, 20 university teachers, 10 from medical colleges and universities, three from agricultural universities, three from engineering universities and four from other specialised universities.

Seven additional teachers selected by the prime minister were also honoured.

World Teachers’ Day is observed annually on October 5 to recognise teachers’ contributions and highlight the importance of their dignity, rights, professional development and quality education.
