British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook met Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday to discuss ways of expanding Bangladesh-UK relations, including trade, investment, economic cooperation and human resource development.

The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Bangladesh Secretariat’s Cabinet Division, according to a press release from the Prime Minister’s Press Wing.

During the discussion, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest. They highlighted the importance of further strengthening the longstanding and friendly ties between the two countries.

Cooperation in education, skills development and migration also featured in the talks. Tarique Rahman and the British envoy discussed continued UK support for Bangladesh’s economic development and progress, alongside opportunities to increase bilateral trade and investment.

Both sides expressed optimism about deepening the existing relationship and identifying new areas of cooperation that could benefit Bangladesh and the UK.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and relevant officials were also present at the meeting.
