The government has suspended all transfer activities for teachers of government primary schools indefinitely, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced at a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday.

The suspension will take effect from Tuesday, September 8, 2026. The decision has been taken to facilitate the joining of 14,384 newly recruited teachers who have received final recommendations for appointment as assistant teachers.

The government is also reviewing the existing teacher transfer process to address various irregularities and complications and restore transparency and discipline to the system.

The state minister said that once the suspension is lifted, the transfer process may not resume under the existing system. A revised and updated procedure or policy will be formulated before teacher transfers are restarted.

According to the schedule set by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, the joining and placement process for the newly recommended teachers will proceed as follows:

● October 1, 2026: The recommended teachers will join their respective district primary education offices.

● October 4, 2026: Their placement at the selected primary schools will be completed.

A decision on restarting the transfer process for existing teachers will be taken after the placement of the newly appointed teachers is fully completed and the overall situation is assessed.
