Jubo Dal leader killed on way to mediation meeting in Cumilla

Miscreants hacked Md Abu Kawsar, a 40-year-old Jubo Dal leader, to death in Cumilla Sadar upazila on Friday while he was travelling to a mediation meeting over a land dispute.
Kawsar, a leader of Ward 4 of Cumilla city Jubo Dal, was attacked by assailants in the Chhatarkhil area around 11:00 AM. He was taken to Cumilla Trauma Centre but died in the intensive care unit around 2:00 PM.
Witnesses said the attackers ambushed him while he was travelling by auto-rickshaw, repeatedly striking him with sharp weapons before fleeing on motorcycles.
Local sources said a mediation meeting had been arranged to resolve a land dispute involving some of Kawsar’s friends and two local men.
Police sent the body to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Several teams are working to identify and arrest those involved, said Kotwali Model Police Station officer-in-charge Touhidul Anwar.
