Restrictions on airport operations in Saudi Arabia have disrupted 103 direct and transit flights since Saturday, affecting the travel plans of 15,779 passengers, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB).
Of the affected flights, 42 were direct services to Saudi Arabia and 61 were transit flights. Biman Bangladesh Airlines recorded 17 affected direct flights, followed by US-Bangla Airlines with 10, Saudia with eight and Riyadh Airways with seven.
Among transit services, IndiGo had the highest number of disruptions at 22 flights, followed by Emirates with 14, Qatar Airways with eight, Salam Air with seven, Flydubai with six, Air India with three and EgyptAir with one.
The disruptions have created uncertainty for Bangladeshi travellers, particularly migrant workers heading to Saudi Arabia, and complicated journeys involving connecting flights through regional airports.
