Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia have discussed the upcoming 52nd meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, scheduled to be held in Baghdad, along with broader bilateral cooperation.
Bangladesh’s Permanent Representative to the OIC, Ambassador MJH Jabed, met his newly appointed Saudi counterpart, Ambassador Khalid Bin Ismaeel Bin Badawi Bin Hussain Al Sharif, in Jeddah on Tuesday.
Jabed expressed Bangladesh’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia following Houthi attacks on civilian infrastructure that killed several people, including two Bangladeshi nationals. The Saudi envoy thanked Bangladesh for its support.
Saudi Arabia also reaffirmed its support for the repatriation of Rohingya refugees to Myanmar. The two sides further agreed to coordinate their positions at OIC forums on trade, finance, agriculture, healthcare, science and technology.
