Hasan’s six-wicket haul bowls Australia out for 198 in Darwin Test

Hasan Mahmud produced a career-best spell to take six wickets as Bangladesh bowled Australia out for 198 in the Darwin Test.

The Bangladesh pacer claimed 6-55, completing his third five-wicket haul in Test cricket and becoming the first Bangladeshi bowler to take five wickets in a Test on Australian soil.

Hasan troubled Australia’s batters throughout the innings with movement and swing, while Ebadot Hossain and Taskin Ahmed also played key roles with the ball.

Australia made a cautious start after winning the toss, but Hasan struck in the 12th over by dismissing Jake Weatherald, who edged a delivery outside off stump to the wicketkeeper.

Hasan then removed Travis Head, who was bowled after being beaten by a delivery from around the wicket. Head scored 22 off 39 balls.

Ebadot and Taskin added further wickets later in the session to put Bangladesh in control.

In the second session, Ebadot broke the resistance of Steve Smith and Alex Carey before Taskin dismissed Beau Webster with a sharp delivery.

Hasan returned to remove Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins before completing his six-wicket haul in the final session by dismissing Smith and Nathan Lyon.

Smith was Australia’s top scorer with 71 runs as the hosts were eventually dismissed for 198.
