Measles Death Toll Climbs to 863 After Three More Fatalities

Bangladesh recorded three more deaths linked to measles symptoms in the 24 hours ending at 8:00am on বৃহস্পতিবার (7 August), raising the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths to 863.

According to the latest figures, suspected measles deaths increased to 767, while the number of laboratory-confirmed fatalities remained unchanged at 96.

Health authorities also reported 1,017 new suspected measles cases during the reporting period, taking the nationwide total to 134,655.

In addition, 201 new laboratory-confirmed infections were identified, bringing the cumulative number of confirmed measles cases to 16,941.

Data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) shows that since 15 March, a total of 116,822 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country. Of them, 112,525 have recovered.
