The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has fixed the medical test fee for workers seeking employment in Malaysia at Tk 8,000 per person.

No medical centre will be allowed to charge more than the fixed amount, the ministry said, urging workers not to make additional payments or seek medical services through brokers or middlemen.

The ministry also clarified that no medical centre would operate under the ownership or control of any particular recruiting agency. Workers selected for employment in Malaysia can undergo medical examinations at any approved medical centre.

If a recruiting agency issues a medical slip but a worker later decides to process the application through another agency, the original agency must promptly provide the medical report. The agency issuing the slip cannot raise objections or make excuses for withholding the report.

Workers have been advised to report immediately to the ministry if any medical centre demands more than Tk 8,000 or causes harassment, delays or other difficulties.

The ministry also clarified that no fee is required for the MiGRAMS slip.

It said medical centres would be regularly monitored and inspected, adding that strict legal action would be taken against any centre found violating the instructions or engaging in irregularities.

The ministry urged Malaysia-bound workers, recruiting agencies and medical centres to comply with the directives.

It also called for cooperation from all concerned to ensure a fair, transparent and orderly overseas employment process.
