The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has recommended buying an additional liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from QatarEnergy Trading LLC for delivery on December 23, 2026.

Under the proposed arrangement, Bangladesh would pay a price of JKM minus $0.10 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), placing the rate 10 cents below the Asian spot LNG benchmark.

The purchase would be made through a government-to-government arrangement under Bangladesh’s existing long-term LNG supply agreement with Qatar.

The Energy and Mineral Resources Division submitted the proposal, seeking approval to purchase the additional cargo at a rate different from the one specified in the existing contract.

The committee recommended the proposal for approval at its meeting, naming QatarEnergy Trading LLC as the supplier.

The Japan-Korea Marker (JKM) is a benchmark used to determine spot LNG prices in Asian markets. Under the proposed pricing formula, Bangladesh would pay $0.10 per MMBtu less than the JKM rate.
