Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has assured the Indian Media Correspondents’ Association, Bangladesh (IMCAB), that initiatives are underway to simplify visa procedures, particularly for Bangladeshis travelling to India for medical treatment.

Trivedi gave the assurance during a meeting with an IMCAB delegation at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Thursday.

Led by IMCAB President Shaheen Chowdhury, the delegation highlighted difficulties faced by applicants, including long waits for appointment slots after completing online visa applications. They also called for easier access for patients requiring treatment in India.

In response, Trivedi said the High Commission was reviewing the obstacles applicants face and exploring ways to make the process easier for medical patients. Officials are also examining the reasons behind delays in appointments for submitting visa applications in person.

He expressed hope that the existing problems would be resolved soon, stressing that greater travel between Bangladesh and India could strengthen friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Other IMCAB executive committee members and Gokul V K, First Secretary of the Indian High Commission, attended the meeting.
