Bangladesh will send its first batch of 12 workers to Mongolia on November 1 through Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), as the government seeks to expand overseas job opportunities.
BOESL Managing Director Mohammad Rashedul Haque told The Financial Express that the workers would be employed in warehouses and as support staff at markets and shopping malls, with no migration costs.
Each worker will receive a monthly salary of $400, a daily meal allowance of $4 and free accommodation provided by the employer.
The workers will undergo a three-month probationary period before continuing under two-year contracts, which may be renewed based on their performance. Another 18 Bangladeshi workers are also preparing to travel to Mongolia soon.
Haque said several hundred candidates applied for the jobs after BOESL advertised the vacancies. Mongolian company officials interviewed applicants online alongside BOESL representatives and selected 12 workers, who then received training.
The selected men, aged 20 to 30, have educational qualifications ranging from SSC to a master’s degree and can communicate in English. The recruiting company will cover their medical treatment costs if they fall ill.
The Bangladesh embassy in Beijing helped facilitate the recruitment process, according to Haque.
Mongolia is seeking foreign workers in sectors including construction, infrastructure, agriculture, textiles, healthcare and information technology. Industry insiders said establishing a Bangladeshi embassy in Ulaanbaatar could further expand employment and bilateral cooperation.
More than 15 million Bangladeshi workers are employed in 176 countries. Bangladesh received a record $35.56 billion in remittances in the 2025–26 fiscal year, up from $30.33 billion in the previous year, according to Bangladesh Bank.
